Art Interactions between Romanian and Bulgarian Lands
(15th – 20th century)

Bucharest, 1-2 June 2017

Venues: Library of the Romanian Academy, 125 Calea Victoriei (day 1)
                G. Oprescu Institute of Art History, 196 Calea Victoriei (day 2)

On the base of the Agreement for cooperation between the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and G. Oprescu Institute of Art History at the Romanian Academy, signed in August 2013, both institutions agreed to undertake a joint three-year project entitled Art Interactions between Romanian and Bulgarian Lands (15th – 20th century). The general concept sought to develop an interdisciplinary view concerning a variety of artistic and cultural connections between the two countries during different historical periods, observed in visual arts, music, architecture, theatre and screen arts. The project is expected to contribute to advanced current demands of contemporary European scholarship.

During the different stages of the project, a range of various activities were planned, including investigation of related artistic data and bibliography, field work concerning particular aspects of the general subject, organizing of an academic conference and publishing of a volume in order to present and disseminate the final research findings.
